Phantom of the Fire

1.

*Fire, it crackled in the air giving it a crisp and dry taste. Cats yowled and screeched in agony. It was like a masacur with flames. A claw reached out and pulled a cat by his tail. He wailed like a kit when getting in trouble. A silver cat ran through the hoards of cats, there was a bundle limp in her mouth. The she-cat set her bundle down.*
Her Mother: Misaki you must stay here or you'll get hurt.
*The black kit opened her mouth as if to protest but she closed it. Her eyes were full of sorrow, though she had no idea what was happening. The mother licked her kit's head tears fill her eyes as she realized that it was her turn now. The claw grasped her by the tail and drug her.*
Her Mother: Don't forget us Misaki!!! Remember, remember all of us!
*It drug her down into the depths of the flames. Tears swelled over the little kit's eyes as she watched her only mother burn. Cats were flung and slaughtered before the fire by the giant creature. Misaki, the little black kit, watched with wide eyes as her family was torn down and there was nothing for her to do. Her green eyes glazed with hate as she saw what was going on.*
Voice: Misaki. Misaki.
*A new voice whispered in her mind. She shrunk back in the shadows from the calling voice. She cried out into the night as the fire burned on in the forest filling it with her echoing cry.*

*As the last of the flames died away Misaki woke to dawn coming. She took some paces out into the light and threw up. The stentch of burned bodies revolted her. After a while she stopped, looking at the devastation that lay around her. Misaki sniffed each scrap of burned flesh. She wanted to find her mother, the familar smell of milk. But each time she stopped she just couldn't find her mother. Misaki pawed at the ground where a pile of dead cats lay.*
Misaki: Mother!! *She cried out.
Then she heard a gasp and ran to the sound. There on the ground lay her mother still barely alive. Misaki scrambled over to her giving her a nuzzle.*
Her Mother: Mi-Misa-ki
*Her mother stuttered then lay rested on the ground her eyes glazed.*
Misaki: No! Please don't!!
*The little kit cried tears flooding over again.*

2.

*Misaki woke to find she was dreaming her night-mare again. When will this night-mare stop chasing me...*
Yuki: So you've finally woken up huh?
Misaki: Yeah *She mumbled.Misaki got up and stretched.*
Yuki: sounded like you had a fitful night. *she mewed full of concern. Yuki is like that all the time, caring for others. It was only a year before when her and her sister rescued me... Misaki shook off the worry and lapped up some ice water. Her laps made ripples in the water making her face a weird expression. In fact... she stopped lapping the water and stared at the water. The face in the water wasn't hers at all.*
Voice: Misaki come to me....
Misaki: Mrrow!!! *She jumped back splashing the water.*
Kaida: You ok, you seem jumpy today more than usual.
Misaki: Um... yeah I-I'm fine
*She stared back at the water but the face was gone. Was that cat wearing a mask... Misaki twitched her tail and then walked over to their fresh-kill. She picked out a fresh mouse and gulped it down in a matter of seconds. She looked around her surrounding like always, but somehow she didn't feel comfortable being here even after a year. It wasn't like her home that she was born ing but it did feel soothing.*
Yuki: well I'm going to patrol the borders with Kaida see ya.
Misaki: 'k
*She sat down and looked to the sky, they weren't much of a pack as her other family was but she was used to it. Toshi was always gone so he wasn't a bother. He came when we first settled here... Misaki shook her head, she alwasy thought too much of the past. A cold shiver went down her spin like a tail that was brushing against her. She slowly turned to find nothing there. What was it with this week it was like all the sudden someone was stalking her. Misaki got up and walked down to the patch of flowers where she could relax her mind. Suddenly something bundled into her knocking her away.*
Misaki: Wha-
Stranger: Shhhh, or you'll get us both killed.
*Misaki didn't know what he meant but looked up to see a large creature. It lumbered towards them.*
Misaki: What is that? *she whispered*
Stranger: It's called a dog but this one has been on my trail for days.
*Misaki looked at the stranger, now that she was closer she could see what he looked like. He had dark tabby fur and a kink in his ear. His eyes were a green color with a shade of yellow.*
Stranger: By the way I'm Whiskers.
Misaki: I'm Misaki.
Whiskers: nice to meet you, sorry i brought you into this.
Misaki: it's ok i've been through worse.
*The dog came closer till it was almost two fox-lengths away. A bell ringed in Misaki's head. She turned around to see nothing.*
Voice: This way, come this way.
*Misaki followed the voice leading her to a hole in their hide out.*
Whiskers: Hey where are ya going?
Misaki: Theres an opening here.
*Whiskers nodded and followed her out. Once they were out Misaki and Whiskers ran. They stopped where the trees were thinning out.*
Whiskers: Thanks i wouldn't have made it without you.
Misaki: Your welcome.
*Whiskers said his goodbye and ran towards the houses down in the horizen. Misaki walked back towards the camp. The dogs scent was faint so it must have run off. Misaki circled her nest then laid down. What now? Misaki closed her eyes and let sleep come over here.*
Voice: Misaki. Misaki why do you run?
*Misaki opened her eyes to see a lighter tabby tom than Whiskers standing before her. He had a mask that covered the right side of his face. His eyes were a mezmerizing blue that had her in a trance till she shook her head.*
Voice: Misaki. *he took a step forward.* Please don't run.
Misaki: Who are you?
Voice: Phantom...
*Soon his image started to vanish and then Misaki woke to find it sunhigh. Yuki and Kaida still weren't back, it made her worry.*
Misaki: So he's called Phantom....
